The Houston Rodeo started the tradition of having a star entertainer perform after each day of the Rodeo for the audience when Gene Autry, "the Singing Cowboy" debuted as the first singer of the Show in 1942. Ever since then, the tradition has carried on so that current country and non country singers perform during the Rodeo season in NRG Stadium. A few examples of entertainers from this past year were Fall Out Boy, Hunter Hayes, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Pitbull, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Ariana Grande, Billy Currington, and many more. To incorporate the Mexican population into the Rodeo, Tejano Day was created, and this year, La Arrolladora Banda El Limon as well as La Maquinaria Nortena played.
