In addition to the tradition of the trail rides from all over Texas to Houston, there are multiple other traditions.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has special tradition days like Black Heritage Day, Go Texan Day, and Go Tejano Day, where everyone celebrates the traditional culture of Texas. Another tradition is the Rodeo Parade that starts off the entire Rodeo season. There are 15 trail riders, 20 floats, 15 commercial wagons, 15 university and high school marching bands, dignitaries on horseback, and many balloons, all traveling down Memorial into Texas Avenue.
The events of the Rodeo are one of the main traditions that are celebrated every year, and occasionally there is a new event added to the ongoing traditional ones. The last event that was added was Mutton Bustin', which was included so that the youth of Houston could participate in the Show and Rodeo.
